When I had my first child, Jidenna, breastfeeding did not go as I had imagined.
I had always thought breastfeeding was something simple and natural. I imagined that I would simply hold my baby, place him on my breast, and everything would naturally fall into place. But I was unpleasantly surprised when I experienced difficulties breastfeeding.
I struggled with flat nipples and low milk supply. I began to experience intense feelings of mom guilt and felt like I was unable to do something as basic as breastfeeding my own baby.
This went on for almost three months. I was frustrated, emotionally exhausted, and eventually realised that I had to find a solution.
That was how the brand you know today as Jiden was created.
Through my own experience, I realised that pumping could be a solution to the challenges I was facing and so many other breastfeeding challenges that other moms face.
I went on to become a certified breastfeeding specialist, and now, as a mother of three, I have experienced breastfeeding from different perspectives, as a mother, as a breastfeeding specialist and as someone who understands just how challenging the journey can be.
